Your shortlist
MSc topics are narrower and feasible in about a year. PhD topics assume a larger sample, several studies or a theory-building aim. Adjust scope to your programme's rules.
Turn an idea into a research title
A strong title tells the reader who was studied, what was tested or explored, what was measured, and how. Build it from five parts.
PopulationWho? e.g. staff nurses, mothers, adolescents
FocusThe intervention, exposure or phenomenon
OutcomeWhat you measure or explore
SettingWhere? ward, hospital, district, community
DesignSurvey, trial, qualitative, mixed methods
Broad idea: "Nurse burnout."
Workable title: "Effect of a mindfulness programme on burnout among staff nurses in intensive care units: a quasi-experimental study."
Workable title: "Effect of a mindfulness programme on burnout among staff nurses in intensive care units: a quasi-experimental study."
Then write the research question and objectives from that title so all three match.
Test your topic before you commit
Check each shortlisted topic against these five questions (often called FINER). If two or more are a no, refine or replace it.
